Apple’s Self-Driving Car Project Facing Further Setbacks

Apple’s autonomous car project, a decade-old endeavor with the code names Titan and T172, is facing further setbacks. According to a Bloomberg report, the debut of the vehicle has been postponed to at least 2028, with the autonomous technology downgraded to Level 2+. The project, initially aiming for Level 4 autonomy, has experienced repeated delays and strategic changes. Apple now focuses on delivering driver-assistance features comparable to Tesla and Mercedes-Benz, offering Level 2+ autonomy that assists with steering, braking, and accelerating, but does require human control readiness. Apple faces skepticism about its ability to succeed in the competitive automotive industry, especially given previous delays and changes in autonomous goals.
